IPL Laser Treatments

Intense Pulsed Light Treatments

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is similar to a standard laser treatment, but rather than just using one wavelength of light, an IPL session  can use light at many different wavelengths, making it less focused than a traditional laser treatment.

IPL penetrates right down into the second layer of your skin but doesn’t cause any harm to the top layer.  The light energy is absorbed by cells in your skin, which convert them into heat.

Skin Rejuvenation with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to treat Pigmentation, Acne & Acne Scarring

As we age we begin to notice our skin showing signs of time, sun damage and lifestyle choices. My Skin Rejuvenation treatment offers a dramatic improvement to multiple conditions with little-to-no downtime. This is your opportunity to fade away those lines, erase pigmentation and age spots to reveal younger, smoother & healthier looking skin.

3JUVE Rebright

IPL Treatment for Pigmentation

Those who have skin discolouration issues might want to consider "Intense Pulsed Light" (IPL) for pigmentation. Crystal Rose Skin Clinic uses IPL to treat a variety of skin issues including pigmentation, rosacea, and improving overall skin tone.

IPL for pigmentation - how does it work?

The IPL laser used for pigmentation sends out a small wavelength light directed through a crystal sapphire head. This light is sent into the depths of the skin until it reaches the subcutaneous layer. This ability to reach far into the skin is what makes this treatment so innovative. It can deal with veins as well as pigmentation.

Results of IPL for pigmentation can be seen in as little as 1 session although some people may need to have up to 3.

IPL for pigmentation - what should I expect?

IPL for pigmentation is very straightforward.

You may feel a pinching sensation during the procedure, but there is a cooling system for the treatment so this will never become too uncomfortable.

The skin is cooled before the light is emitted.

IPL for pigmentation - aftercare

When the treatment is completed, there may be a slight stinging sensation on the skin and for a few days afterwards the pigmentation may seem a little darker. I will provide you with detailed aftercare during your appointment, but it is important that you do not try to remove the pigmentation yourself.

Within a few weeks the pigmentation will break down naturally and it will leave behind it clear, beautiful skin.

Post-treatment, it is important that you care for your skin, following the guidelines I will give to you during your appointment, so you can maximise the results you achieve.

Ensure that your skin is not exposed to sunlight. Having IPL for pigmentation can leave the skin a little more sensitive and you need to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF (at least 40) for maximum protection (you can order the AlumierMD Broad Spectrum SPF through my skin clinic in Ipswich).

Using sunscreen can also reduce the possibility that more pigmentation
will form.

IPL Treatment for Acne & Rosacea

Acne rosacea can be very effectively treated with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) laser technology.

The IPL laser works by shrinking the blood vessels. Treatment is short, yet effective.

IPL for acne & rosacea - how does it work?

During treatment, I’ll use a light guide to pass light pulses gently and evenly over the areas of skin that are being treated.

The IPL light stimulates cells called fibroblasts to produce more collagen, which over the course of your treatment programme help to smooth and soften your skin, while treating any excess pigmentation, spider veins and rosacea.

The cells in these blemishes absorb the IPL light and will eventually fade from view.

IPL for acnes & rosacea - what should I expect?

IPL treatment is less painful than traditional laser treatment but it can feel mildly uncomfortable.

As the hand piece is gently applied to your skin and the pulses of light begin, you may feel a slight stinging sensation – this has often been  described as being something like having a small rubber band flicked at your skin.

Over the course of your treatment, and as your skin begins to clear, you’ll normally find that the treatments become more comfortable.

IPL for acne & rosacea - aftercare

Downtime should be minimal, but is dependent on how your skin reacts to the treatment. Most people find that they can return to their daily activities straight after the session with no problems.

There may be visible side effects after a session; these include mild swelling, redness, crusting, and even a bruise or small blister.

These are temporary and nothing to worry about, but if you’re at all concerned, get in touch.

Anyone who has any of the conditions below should avoid IPL treatments or get doctor’s permission before attending:
